Pretty Good Privacy. That's literally what PGP stands for.

You encrypt a file with a public key and send it to someone else securely who will decrypt it with a private key.

The keys are always exchanged in advance.

Anyone who intercepts the file in between will only get a bunch of giberish alphanumeric characters.
